Fixing Cavities and Broken Teeth
Living with dental cavities and/or broken teeth can cause discomfort and make eating very difficult. If left untreated, cavities and broken teeth can lead to dental infections and more pain.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
It is important to treat a dental cavity with a filling when it is initially diagnosed. If cavities are not taken care of right away, they can spread throughout your tooth, possibly leading to the need for more invasive dental treatment. If you need a filling done, Dr. DaSilva will use a tooth-colored composite resin material that is shade-matched to your enamel. Not only will the filling protect your tooth, but it will blend in nicely with the rest of your teeth.
Dental Crowns
If you have a tooth that is badly broken and missing a significant amount of tooth structure, a dental crown will typically be recommended to save the tooth. A crown or “cap” is a fabricated tooth that will cover and protect your natural tooth if it is broken and/or weak. Dr. DaSilva will typically fabricate a tooth-colored, all-porcelain crown that is both strong and esthetically pleasing.
Digital Scanning
Our team now uses a digital scanner to fabricate your crown if you need one. Instead of taking a physical impression with goopy impression material, we can typically use a scanning camera that takes pictures of your teeth in order to create a digital model on the computer. We will then use the digital model to have the final ceramic crown fabricated for you.
